Micro-CUBE Guitar Amplifier

This is a fine practice amp from
Roland. I have purchased this amp and so far have had no problems with
it. It is virtually hiss free which I love and need for recording. It is
small, lightweight and beautifully simple.
With most practice amps I have shopped for, you are lucky if they
even have reverb. This amp has a selector
switch that allows you to choose from six different amp tone models. Ex.
Acoustic, Brit Combo, Classic Stack, R-fier, Black Panel, or JC Clean.
The R-fier sound is my favorite. It is very heavy overdrive setting that
is very crunchy. You also get
an EFX knob that allows you to select Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, or
Tremelo. You can vary how much effect is added to the signal but only
one of these effects can be selected at a time.
There is a second knob for Delay or
Reverb. Like the other effects you can determine how much Delay or
Reverb is added. The Delay or Reverb can be used simultaneously with one
of the four effects previously mentioned. Of course there is Gain,
Volume and Tone too. It also runs on battery power if needed (but
I always plug it into an AC outlet anyway). Oh yeah, and there is
tuning fork (tone) built right in.
So you could load this baby up with
batteries and
go the park. The built in tuner comes in handy for travel too.
And dare I say that this little amp
has too much bass. It would have been really nice to get independent
Bass and Treble knobs. A single Tone knob is really limiting. 3 sliders
for low, mid, high would be the best. I believe the next model up is
simply the cube. I will be purchasing one of those too.
Thumbs up for the Roland
Micro-CUBE!
Ibanez Guitar model RG350EX

This is a fine guitar from Ibanez. I
have purchased this guitar and so far have had no problems with it. As soon as I brought it
home I changed the string gauge to the extra light strings I usually use
and I ended up tinkering with the spring tensions in the bridge design.
I like the basic and simple classic
black design. I like all the combination of pickups
that can be selected. I like the tremolo bar (whammy) action. I like the
locking nut. I like it. I like it. The body is not too heavy. The neck seems nice and thin.
Thumbs up all around for the Ibanez
RG350EX!
