One God-One Voice is a community-based interdenominational choral group with a mission to share their talents and their love of music amongst themselves and with their audiences.

One God-One Voice performs in the US and abroad, with their latest project being a 10 day trip to spread joy to Vienna, Austria, Munich, Nuremberg, Heidelberg and Strasbourg.

They will be performing in amazing venues such as Melk Abbey (wow!) and Neuschwanstein (WOW! gotta go!). Thanks to my friend and colleague for sharing this with us. Thanks CW!

ONE GOD~ONE VOICE

One God~One Voice, OGOV, originated as the Christ Reformed Community Choir in Frederick, MD. It came to being after this choir group traveled to Vienna, Austria to participate in the annual International Advent Sing. Near the close of the festival at the Rathaus in Vienna, Silent Night spontaneously began by the group. Suddenly there were thousands of voices singing along in their own tongue and the power of the music transcended language as illustrated in the faces and voices of the audience. A symphony of joy enriching our hearts like no other event had to date. Joining together in the spirit of joy, all nations of many tongues embraced one another in the mutual language of love that was truly a spiritual experience. It was at this event that the hearts of the choir were filled with the spirit of ecumenical love and the non-denominational choir OGOV was born, allowing the choir to garner the vocal talents of any who wished to join.

Since those humble beginnings, our choir has been to Europe singing at the International Choral Festival (Cantare in Toscana), the White House twice, one for the public and one private performance, the Mormon Tabernacle visitor’s center in Kensington, MD, and many other locations of note enriching the members of the choir and those that listened. One of our overseas honors was when we were invited to sing for the Wednesday mass at St. Peter’s square in Rome, Italy, with Pope John Paul II in attendance.

Priding ourselves with the ability to jump to the forefront of national events and international events, we went to the streets after 911 occurred singing songs of comfort hoping to bring calm to a shocked nation and the people of Frederick, MD. We sing all around our community and have the pleasure of being invited to many local churches and outdoor events.

Terry Sparks is the Director of OGOV. Terry has sung professionally with the Washington Opera and the Washington Concert Opera Company in Washington D.C., the Wolf Trap Opera Company in Vienna, VA. and many other places of note in and around the Washington D.C. area. Terry is presently the Interim Minister of Worship at the First Baptist Church and is responsible for the direction of the Chancel Choir, and the Praise and Worship Team. Additionally, Terry conducts private singing and piano lessons to many students in her home studio.

OGOV is currently planning another trip to Europe. The tour will begin with a concert at the United Nations in Vienna, Austria, concerts at many World War II locations including former Nazi sites in Nuremberg, Dachau Concentration Camp, Munich and Heidelberg as well as US military hospitals. Soldiers wounded in Iraq and the other areas in the Middle East are sent to these hospitals prior to returning to duty or returning to the United States. We look forward to the honor and privilege of singing to these brave men and women as we celebrate their courage and contribution to all Americans. The tour will end with concerts of patriotic music at European military bases on July 4, 2005.
